Hello, everyone I know many of you were all anticipating the launch of Zonica tomorrow, but due to personal circumstances I can not in good faith launch the server. Long story short I work in snow removal and with my incredible luck a storm is coming in tomorrow. I know its a strange reason to delay, but I work for the city and its usually a 15-20+ hour day. Meaning I will not sniff my computer until Sunday at some point at the earliest. I truthfully have been mentally drained all week by constant changes in the weather report which is why the announcement is coming now and not earlier. Its been quite steady since yesterday so I have decide it’s best for us to launch next Saturday 1/18/2025 at Noon EST / 5 PM GMT. Believe me, there is nothing I want more than to bring this game online, but I genuinely believe an extra week will do nothing but benefit us in the end. That being said I have a a load to get through today that includes a hoist of new updates, invite Competitions, launch Competitions, as well as some information on how Zonica’s development will be handled throughout its lifetime.

This week was massive for Zonica in terms of polishing, as well some additional content ahead of the launch. I believe in just two days Ynneh amassed over 120 commits which is a ton. These updates ranged from fixes, to QoL, to content additions and more.. Below I will highlight some of the main changes as well as include a full list of the recent changes for those who enjoy reading through patch logs.

Tutorial & New Game Mode

  • Hard Mode has been introduced into Zonica, Hard Mode offers players a much more challenging and rewarding playthrough compared to easy and regular.
    • This mode boasts an overall experience rate of x15 making progression considerably slower overall.
    • Drop Rate Bonus is 7.5% (Regular Mode has been reduced to 3% with this new mode change)
  • We have also implemented a new tutorial that gives players a good introduction into what Zonica has to offer them while playing

Slayer Overhaul

  • New Learn/Unlock system implemented to make the games progression feel more rewarding as well as challenging
  • Implemented the ability to remove tasks (amount scales with donation benefit)
  • New Slayer Master that is a one-stop shop for all levels
  • Revamped Rewards Store

Leaderboard Winners

  • The top three monthly winners will be rewarded with the Reaper cape that corresponds with their placement
    • These capes will have base Fire Cape stats and will also be treated as such and follow similar trade and death rules.
  • Weekly and Daily winners will win a set stack of Blood Money
  • We have plans to expand our leaderboards to tracking d/m/w skilling xp as well as boss timers and more

Achievements 

  • We have implemented Easy, Medium and Hard achievements for players to tackle and earn rewards
    • We have plans to expand on these categories as well as add in Elite and Master tasks

Patch Notes (Remember you can always see our updates live here!)

  • The Loot Goblin Event is now triggered when 100 votes have been claimed rather than on a hourly timer
  • All timers have been set to run for the expected launch
  • Added “go back” button to drop viewer
  • Increased the amount of drops shown on the Drop Viewing widget
  • Blacklist size finished
  • Deadman chest keyrates boosted
  • Better time formatting (For example events in quest tab timers)
  • All Perks have been finished for all Donator Ranks
  • Mystery Boxes and Super Mystery Boxes have been rewritten and implemented.
    • Implemented a way for upper management to simulate boxes
  • When players win the lottery offline, the next time they login they will get a message and the prize will be added to your inventory/bank
  • Voting now provides players with a vote book that gives them a choice of timed boost
  • Voting Streaks
  • The Chief Servant now offers information on Bingo, Titles and more
  • Instances are reimplemented
  • Updated Chaos Elemental drop table
  • Wilderness Key event has been reimplemented
  • Relocated the thieving stalls to south of the bank
  • Tournaments now occur every 6 hours
  • Thieving items now match their stalls
  • Added 3 consumable timed boosts with more to come
    • PC Boost
    • Slayer Boost
    • Pet Drop Boost
  • Increased the size of the Teleport wizard to make him more prominent
  • Telegrab has been implemented 1:1 RS
  • Numerous teleports added (let us know if you run into issues)
  • Redid many of our server broadcasts to make them more pleasing to the eye
  • The Grand Exchange nearly complete just need to finish the current listings page
  • Nettle picking added
  • Bingo Progress will now remain in the event that the server reboots

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed GW KC
  • Achievement fixes
  • Instakill darts can not be used on the loot goblin
  • Fixed various information in the quest tab
  • Fixed an issue with notes saving
  • Fixed various npc definitions around the map
  • Fixed an issue with some areas still taking coins rather than blood money
  • Fixed numerous doors and objects that were preventing entrance to areas (do let us know if you encounter more)
  • Fixed an issue with Fally party crate event not being multi
  • Fixed a reported issue with picking up ground items
  • Fixed an issue with lottery dialogue
  • Fixed a few issues reported with looting bag
  • Fixed an issue with banking/inventory
  • Fixed some issues with bingo

Community Polls & Input

This community check in comes with a lot so please do bare with me, first things first is I would ask all of you take the time to vote on our current poll and to be on the look out for more this week as we gauge what you guys want to see come to Zonica after we launch. Below are some things we had in mind for potential updates but of course we will need your input on more larger updates and the direction we will take (Remember these are just some ideas for things we had planned but are always looking for feedback on what you guys want to see!).

  • Ironman modes: This would initially be regular and hardcore with room to expand to group ironman if desired
  • Aura Expansion: This would be expanding our Auras to house a inventory the size of current RS opening up a hoist of new perks to use around the world
    • These perks would most likely be introduced in tiers to keep players from progressing too quickly through the game.
  • Collection Logs: Self explanatory
  • Leaderboard Expansions
    • Tracking Kill Times, Total Experience Gained in Individual Skills, Kill Counts and more would all be tracked and the leaders rewarded

Invite Competition

We will be sponsoring another invite competition as a sign of thanks for sticking by us as well as a small token for having to wait an additional week to play the game. Look out for a discord notification in events later tonight for when the comp officially starts around 8pm as well as reward information!

Launch Competitions 

We will also be having a hoist of launch competitions and some awesome rewards for those looking to participate! These events and rewards are not totally firm yet, so please make sure to check them the day before launch as everything will be set and stone come 1/17/25.
